The electromagnetic field surrounding the body - often called the aura - is a well documented phenomenon. In this class we explore ways to assess the body's energy field (size, shape, texture, temperature, and more) and to positively work with the field, that is "to massage" the field. We will use a style that will feel familiar to students and practitioners of Tui Na, many of the strokes are adapted from Tui Na, and Energy Field Massage (EFM) has a similar rhythm. As the Chakras are part of the electromagnetic field, they are also assessed and worked with in this class.
The EFM approach has numerous therapeutic applications, such as pre and post-surgical support without direct bodily contact, working on sensitive areas and working with sensitive clients. We will discuss these applications along with selected case studies. Students will be empowered to incorporate off-the-body treatment into their current bodywork styles and to intervene with solely auric massage when appropriate. Much of the class is practical "hands-on" (without always being hands-on!), and students will get and receive sessions along with detailed supportive feedback. Day 1 of the class focuses on assessment, and Day 2 on treatment.
