| Animal Communication |
|---|
Prerequisite: None Text Required: None |
|---|
| Animals communicate in much the same way we do, and by understanding how our animal friends communicate, we can help them to lead healthier lives. Speaking with animals is an essential skill in order to help animals adjust to their domesticated world. We ask so much of them and the least we can do is to better understand them through communication.
The focus of this class will be to learn how to send and receive messages with animals. You will learn how to prepare an animal for a trip to the Veterinarian, or to cope with your upcoming vacation away from them. Lasting behavior modification happens when you are able to understand why your animal is behaving the way that they do. Many times animals will change because of their love for their guardian, but not without being heard first. Fights between animals that live in the same household can be resolved by patiently communicating with them.
Another part of class will focus on how to perform a remote healing session with an animal at a distance, and how to support an animal and their guardian during end-of-life times. The second and third day of class will be hands on with animals, and although you don’t need to bring an animal to participate, they are welcome. |

| Energy Field Massage |
|---|
Prerequisite: None Text Required: None |
|---|
The electromagnetic field surrounding the body - often called the aura - is a well documented phenomenon. In this class we explore ways to assess the body's energy field (size, shape, texture, temperature, and more) and to positively work with the field, that is "to massage" the field. We will use a style that will feel familiar to students and practitioners of Tui Na, many of the strokes are adapted from Tui Na, and Energy Field Massage (EFM) has a similar rhythm. As the Chakras are part of the electromagnetic field, they are also assessed and worked with in this class.
The EFM approach has numerous therapeutic applications, such as pre and post-surgical support without direct bodily contact, working on sensitive areas and working with sensitive clients. We will discuss these applications along with selected case studies. Students will be empowered to incorporate off-the-body treatment into their current bodywork styles and to intervene with solely auric massage when appropriate. Much of the class is practical "hands-on" (without always being hands-on!), and students will get and receive sessions along with detailed supportive feedback. Day 1 of the class focuses on assessment, and Day 2 on treatment. |

Our guiding principle "Treat Yourself & Your Client with Kindness & Respect" serves to keep the conversation practical, and open to exploring the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues Bodywork and Energywork bring up, and can help us grow through. |

| Wind & Water Medical Qi Gong has been developed by Brian O'Dea, L. Ac. Medical Qi Gong has existed for thousands of years, and is an ancient branch of Asian Bodywork Therapy. Medical Qigong refers to a range of therapeutic methods, including applied Tai Chi/Qi Gong philosophy, movement and methods of moving energy. Grounded in ancient Chinese philosophy combined with meridian and point theory, this form balances energy (qi), blood, and body fluid flow from the inside. The goal is to balance and enhance, to cultivate, a practitioners energy and to then use that enhanced energy to facilitate the creation of greater health and balance in their clients. Practitioners cultivated intention and particular body movements are used to guide the qi in healthy directions. Tai Chi/Qi Gong exercises, theory, applications, and practice are all included. The term "Medical" is not meant to connote that this work is a form of medicine. The term is used in China to denote this kind of Asian Bodywork Therapy, to differentiate it from Qi Gong movement exercises for personal use. Both the AOBTA and NCCAOM recognize "Medical Qi Gong" as a form of Asian bodywork. |
