FAQ
A. You can join a program or take classes at any time – the Acupressure Institute has open enrollment year round.
Our classes are set up in a workshop format. There aren't quarters or semesters - each class is a self-contained unit - a class might just be two days on the weekend or Monday evenings for a month. You pick a date and a class and sign up ahead of time and when you're done with that class, it counts towards your program.
Each program is made of several classes, and as long as you finish the required classes within a given timeframe for your program, you're on track.
It's very flexible! You could choose to take several classes one month, travel for a few months and come back and do more classes - as long as you finish your classes within the allotted time, you can complete your program.
A. There are no long range or distance classes available. All study is done at our school in Berkeley, California. Because our classes are set up workshop style, some students who can make it out here for a few weeks at a time, have been able to complete programs over the course of a few trips.
If you are interested in learning more about acupressure you can use with friends and family, and not looking for certified hours, you can always order books or DVDs from www.acupressure.com.
A. You can pay for your program either all up front, or, pay class by class as you take classes.
If you pay everything up front, you get a discount off the total program. All you need to do is call us or email to let us know which classes you'd like to take or review and what dates they're happening on.
If you pay class-by-class, you pay the initial application and registration fees, and then pay for each class before you take it. This lets students spread out their classes as well as the costs at a rate that is comfortable by them. You will have paid off the entirety of your program before your last few classes – at which point, you’re paid in full and need only call or email us to let us know which classes and what dates you would like to attend.
A. If you currently have an active program, you can take any class you've taken in a program at the Acupressure Institute, again, at no charge. You can review a class multiple times, over and over, if you like.
The Acupressure Institute recognizes that the best way to learn bodywork is through practice and hands-on-education- reviewing classes lets you take time to master techniques and learn through experience.
If you don't have an active program, reviewing classes you've taken in a program is $75 per class. If you take classes outside of a program and would like to review, those are half the class cost.
A. Some students help out at the Acupressure Institute by doing a variety of tasks, work, and projects in exchange for credit towards classes. You will need to submit a resume and commit to at least 4 hours of time a week. If there is availability in work, you can work off up to half of your program in this fashion.
