150-Hour Basic Acupressure Program

The Basic 150-hour training covers several types of acupressure and shiatsu. Students gain proficiency in using more than 75 acupressure points and 8 styles of bodywork. Upon completion, the student is eligible to practice acupressure/shiatsu in California and depending upon county requirements, can legally charge a fee for sessions.

Nine classes make up this program: six required classes and three elective classes. Our 150-hour Shiatsu training contains the same six required courses but requires Zen Shiatsu, Ashiatsu, and Tui Na as the three electives (see chart below).

To enroll, you can stop by the school during business hours, call with credit card for payment, or mail in the forms and a check. $75 application free, $175 registration fee, $250 combined. If you pay the full program cost up front, you receive a $150 discount.

After graduating from the Basic Acupressure Program you may continue your education with the 100-hour Supplemental Program in order to meet the CAMTC 250 hour CMP requirement for practicing in all of California.

To successfully complete a 150-hour Basic Training Program one needs to:

1. Complete all coursework. (6 required classes and 3 electives)
2. Pay tuition in full
3. Complete Documented Clinical Practice & Assignments (7 clinical case studies and 5 assignments. See Documenting Clinical Practice below).
4. Pass the 1 hour verbal and hands-on evaluation. (See Evaluation/Consultation below)

Once these four steps are completed you will be awarded your diploma and become a graduate of the Acupressure Institute.

Documenting Clinical Practice:

Students are required to submit 7 case studies and 5 assignments (totalling 12 write-ups) to their evaluating instructor in typewritten form. A case study includes the client's background, complaints, points used, and results. Guidelines for documenting your sessions and assignments are provided at the time of enrollment or you can download the .pdf file.

Evaluation/Consultation:

After completion of 90% of the classes, students turn in their 12 write-ups to the core instructor of their choice. Upon successful completion of a one hour verbal and hands-on evaluation, the student will receive a diploma.
No written exams.
