Prerequisite: Students must complete our
Basic 150-hour training or equivalent.
Entrance Exam: Students are required to take an entrance exam
prior to being accepted into this program to establish their basic
understanding of acupressure concepts and practices.
Previous Massage Training: Massage school graduates
who want to enroll into our 850-hour program are required to take
our three core basic training classes (Basic, Intermediate, and
Advanced Acupressure). These classes prepare massage therapists
to pass the entrance examination.
Program Length: Students arrange their own class schedules
to meet their individual needs, so the length of time required
to complete the 850 hours varies from one to three years. A student
can conclude the training within one year by combining the 200-hour
intensives along with other classes.
Acupressure Career Counseling: The Acupressure
Institute supports the professional development of Acupressure
Therapy graduates by providing career guidance, referrals and
job placement contacts.
National Asian Bodywork Therapy Exam
The
National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental
Medicine (NCCAOM), the organization that created the national
certifications for Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology, now offers
a national exam and certification for Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT).
The Acupressure Institute’s 850-hour program prepares students
to take the national exam.
If
you seek Acupressure training as a potential career or a major
part of your working life, then the Acupressure Institute recommends
that you aim for obtaining National Certification. If you are
interested or have questions, please call the Institute and ask
to speak to an ABT counselor.
